  • Overview

    We are seeking an IT Support Engineer to support a government client in San Diego, CA.


    • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.  
    • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability while working in enterprise data center environment.
    • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
    • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. 
    • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.  
    • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
    • Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support.
    • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.


    • A current active secret clearance is required to be considered for this role.
    • 3 years of network engineering experience managing and monitoring installed systems and infrastructure.
    • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject.
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012 Certification.
    • Experience in an enterprise data center environment.
    • Experience with VMWare, Microsoft, Red Hat, Data Storage Systems, Cisco UCS Blade Servers, and other enterprise data center technologies.
    • Position requires working in a fast-paced environment with excellent communication skills in interacting with technical and management personnel.
    • Skilled in troubleshooting hardware and software infrastructure system issues in order to determine cause and corrective action to hardware component, network component, and virtual software component failures.
    • Experience with monitoring, and managing data center systems, and networking switches.
    • Microsoft Office profiency (PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
    • Experience with networking fundamentals to include but not limited to IP address sub-netting; Layer 2 VLAN/trunking; Layer 3 routing; TCP/UDP protocols and extended access control lists (ACL).

    Desired Competencies:

    • CompTIA Security+ certification preferred.
    • CCNA certification preferred.
    • VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) certification preferred.
    • Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting in virtual data center environments.
    • Experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g.,Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, etc).
    • Experience with Cloud-hosted environments.
    • Experience in administering Windows Active Directory (AD) Services and Domain Controller.
    • Software Development experience preferred.
    • Jama, Jira, and Confluence experience preferred.
    • Microsoft Office profiency (PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
