The Team:

As a member of Sentek Global’s NS02 team, our main objective is to support the Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Program Office in delivering cutting edge tactical networking capability to US and Coalition warfighters. Our success is in providing expertise and support in the development, acquisition, delivery, installation support, and sustainment of Advanced Tactical Data Link (ATDL) products and services in support of Navy, joint, allied and coalition forces worldwide. 

 

Our team supports the MIDS product lines, consisting of the MIDS-Low Volume Terminal (MIDS-LVT) and MIDS Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS JTRS), to deliver this capability. Our team provides support in Acquisition and Program Management, Configuration and Data Management, Engineering, Test and Evaluation, Logistics, Cybersecurity/Information Assurance, and Risk and Opportunity Management support services for the program office, its products, and related items and processes.

 

Outside of the office, our MIDS team holds quarterly team lunches and events. As a Joint Program Executive Office (JPEO), our team also has a monthly “Relax after Work” social event where government personnel, military personnel, and contractors attend together. These include pick-up soccer games, happy hours, and more! 

The Role:

Reporting to the JTRS Deputy Program Manager, the Security Systems Engineer will provide technical information security, security system design analysis, and security system requirements allocation consulting support throughout the product line acquisition and sustainment life cycle process. This position sits on client site in San Diego, CA. 

What You'll Do:

  • Perform system security engineering (including requirements flow down and system allocation), development, test, certification and operational employment of COMSEC systems which meet medium-to-high DoD/National Security System (NSS) Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Cybersecurity/Information Assurance security requirements and policies.
  • Assess DoD Program protection policies, processes and compliance, e.g., anti-tamper, supply chain risk management, critical functional analysis, critical program information assessment, critical technology protection to support complex Navy and C4I systems.
  • Perform threat analysis and identify vulnerabilities unique to these systems and provide recommendations to mitigate or remediate them.
  • Identify and implement toolsets that will enable secure and effective communications between warfighters.
  • Identify and provide COMSEC/cybersecurity/IA-related issues and policy compliance to prioritize security requirements and satisfy the internal and external stakeholders’ needs.
  • Prepare reports and analysis; provide recommendations to the development of Department of Defense Functional Baseline / Allocated Baseline / Product Baseline requirements and technical data packages.
  • Help to resolve problems that arise during all phases of acquisition life‐cycle to satisfy stakeholders.
  • Assess technical and programmatic information to support foreign disclosure activities.
  • Perform security requirements analysis.
  • Assess and evaluate functional and allocated design implementation of security requirements and features.
  • Witness NSA Security Verification Testing (SVT) and OEM security functional qualification testing.
  • Support software Information Assurance (IA) security assessment.
  • Support program milestone reviews (e.g. S/SRR, S/SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR, OTRR) .
  • Monitor, assess, report, track system problem reports for security-related issues; participate in assessing risk criticality; participate in working problem report mitigations with minimal impact to users and to program cost/schedule and system performance.
  • Provide risk and opportunity analysis and tracking, propose mitigations which reduce risks to acceptable levels over time and which provide opportunities toward improving program cost/schedule and system performance.
  • Support and participate in design/implementation/assessment of engineering change activities to include ECPs, IRs, etc...
  • Provide security engineering services and administrative activities necessary to achieve NSA and DoD NSS/RMF/Program Protection approvals, authorizations and certifications.
  • Participate as a member of the MIDS IA Team; attend meetings; provide and report on  information related to duties; continuously consider business process and system improvements toward the success of PMA/PMW-101 mission/vision and all stakeholders; capture, and act on lessons learned.
  • Bid and Proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this role; the candidate must be able to obtain a Top Secret with SCI (TS/SCI) clearance within 12 months of their hire date.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in an engineering discipline.
  • Must have minimum three (3) years of cybersecurity experience with NSS tactical data link technologies (TDL) technologies implementation and operation (Link 16 experience preferred).
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in system security engineering (including requirements flow down and system allocation), development, test, certification and operational employment of COMSEC systems which meet medium‐to‐high DoD/NSS FMS Cybersecurity/IA security requirements and policies is required; or
  • Combined five (5) years’ experience in two or more of the following areas:
    • DoD Program protection policies, processes and compliance, e.g., anti‐tamper, supply chain risk management, critical functional analysis, critical program information assessment, critical technology protection.
    • Link 16 or other NSS FMS TDL.
    • Secure NSS software engineering/development/test/sustainment.
    • NSS software defined radio (SDR) engineering.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience working with internal and external stakeholders on COMSEC/cybersecurity/IA‐related issues and policy compliance.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience interfacing with development and integration labs and operators for NSS and cybersecurity.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in NSS testing.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience evaluating cost and technical proposals.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in project and program management activities managing cost, schedule and performance, and identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, completing and presenting assessments of NSA/IA‐related concepts, analyses, studies and procedures.
  • Experience with NSS software and software defined radio (SDR) engineering/development/test/sustainment.
  • Experience with RF communication security.
  • Experience in the handling and managing of classified documentation and COMSEC.
  • Working understanding of secure software development and assessment.
  • Working knowledge of government processes and practices involved with safeguarding classified information.
  • Per our contractual agreement with the U.S. Government, a full-time employee “FTE” is required to work 1920 hours in the calendar year.
